Force Yahoo to Not Redirect to Mobile

Many websites like Yahoo.com have a mobile version that is optimized for viewing on a PDA or cell phone. A script on the web server detects the device attempting to access the website and reroutes the browser to the appropriate site. The problem with this is that there are now many PDAs and cell phones with browsers and screens that can handle the full version of the Yahoo! website and are still being redirected to the mobile site. By altering the URL, you can force your cell phone to view the full version site.

  • 1

Open the web browser on your cell phone.

  • 2

Locate the address bar in the browser and move the text cursor so you can type a URL.

  • 3

Type "http://www.yahoo.com/?m=1". The "?m=1" URL modifier instructs the device script to force the full version of the Yahoo! website to load.

  • 4

Press or tap "Go" to make the cell phone web browser navigate to the URL.
